Solid Outing for Track and Field at Sean Collier Invitational

BOSTON - Freshman Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) set a new program record in the 1500-meter and Matt Malone (West Roxbury, Mass.) qualified for the New England championships in the 110-meter hurdles to highlight an excellent showing for the Regis (Mass.) track and field teams at the Sean Collier Invitational on Saturday hosted by MIT.

Boucias' time of 5:06.73 put her in the top 15 and broke a 20 year old program record in the process. The women's side also saw a pair of top finishes in Keegan Duguay (Watertown, Mass.) and Kate Cowden (Wilmington, Mass.) Duguay placed third in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a season best time of 16.15 while Cowden delivered a 39.16-meter toss for fifth place in the discus.

Cassandra Froio (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Jill Mosko (Woburn, Mass.) added a pair of personal bests to round out the solid Pride effort on the women's side. Froio had a personal record (13.94) in women's 100 meter with Mosko posting her top time of 5:36.68 in the 1500-meter run.

On the men's side, Malone stamped his ticket to the New England championships running his 110-meter hurdle race in a time of 16.40 seconds good for fourth place. Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) ran a personal best time of 4:24.01 in the 1500 meter with senior Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.) placing 10th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:03.57.

The men's throws competition saw sophomore Taylor Garner (Richmond, Vt.) place eighth in the hammer with a throw of 35.73 meters.

Regis closes the regular season next weekend, hosting the annual Regis Pride Classic on Sunday, Apr. 30. Events begin at 10:00 a.m.
