MEDFORD, Mass. - Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.), Kate Cowden (Wilmington, Mass.) and Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) all set school records and Bernice Boateng (Danielson, Conn.) won the women's 100-meter dash to pace the Regis (Mass.) track and field team at the Tufts Snowflake Classic held Sunday at the Clarence "Ding" Dussault Track.

Cowden not only broke her own program record, but her 38.15 meter discuss toss qualified her for a coveted spot in next month's ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Westfield State University. Boucias' impressive day was highlighted by her Regis record-setting performance in the 5,000-meter, running the race in a time of 19:25.51 good for a 14th-place finish.

Also on the women's side were a pair of impressive showings in the shot put. Chichi Akanegbu (North Easton, Mass.) placed ninth (11.19) for a top 10 finish and set a personal best mark in the process. Liz Ksepka (Calais, Vt.) posted a mark of 10.21 placing just three spots behind her teammate. Boateng placed third in the prelims before shining in the finals with 13.14 time ahead of Tufts' Rita Donohoe.

On the men's side, Romanchick broke the school record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 35:57.89 (12th), almost 40 seconds faster than the previous record. Taylor Garner (Richmond, Vt.) nearly cracked the top 10 in the discus, throwing for a personal best 34.60 meters and placing 11th.

Kyle Gillen-Hughes (Reading, Mass.) ran two personal best times. He ran the 1,500 meters in 4:28.06 then came back to run the 800 meters in 2:06.07. Freshmen Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) and Nicholas Sahagian (Fort. Lauderdale, Fla.) ran personal best times in the 1,500 meters as well, running 4:28.83 and 4:34.90, respectively.

Boston University won the women's team competition with the host Jumbo's winning on the men's side.
