
NORTH HAVEN, Conn. – Regis College could not completely overcome an early deficit, losing to Albertus Magnus College, 5-4, Saturday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's tennis match at the North Haven Health and Racquet Club.
Down 1-0, the Pride picked up two doubles victories, as the team of Sebastian Torres (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas) won at number one doubles, 8-5, while the tandem of Andrew Bienvenu (Baton Rouge, La.) and Brevin Frankel (Millbury, Mass.) picked up an 8-2 victory at number two doubles.
Albertus Magnus (4-2, 1-0 GNAC) earned four points in the singles competition to clinch the team victory. Bienvenu remained undefeated for the season, improving to 8-0 with a straight-set victory (6-2, 6-2) at number one singles. Torres moved to 5-1 so far this spring as he was victorious at number two singles in straight sets (6-4, 6-2).
Regis (3-5, 0-1 GNAC) begins a four-match homestand with the home opener against Thomas College Tuesday, March 22, starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Regis Tennis Courts.
