Regis Men’s Tennis Drops Road Contest at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – In a battle of the Pride, Springfield College defeated Regis College, 9-0, Thursday afternoon in a non-conference men's collegiate tennis match at the Appleton Courts.

Springfield (1-0) lost a combined seven games in sweeping the doubles sets. The closest match came at number two doubles, as Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) and Josh Nolen (Fairfax, Va.) competed before finally falling, 8-4.

Playing at number two singles, Russell was also the Pride player with the closest singles match, forcing a tiebreaker in both sets. However, Springfield's Michael Kendrick was able to complete the straight-set victory by claiming the first-set tiebreaker, 8-6, as well as the second-set tiebreaker, 9-7.

Regis (0-2) is off until Saturday, Sept. 28, when the men's tennis team will kick off Regis Fest Saturday with a dual match against Wentworth starting at 10 a.m. at the Regis Tennis Courts.
