Men’s Tennis Continues Fall Season at Nichols Invite

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Regis College men's tennis team continued its fall season Sunday by competing at the Nichols Invitational, hosted by the Bison at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

Sebastian Torres (San Juan, Puerto Rico) participated in the "B" flight singles bracket. After losing to Max Schweitzer of Clark in straight sets, Torres clinched third place in the bracket by defeating Hieu Ton of Springfield, 8-4.

The other six active players paired up into three doubles teams. In the first round of the "B" flight, freshmen Josh Nolen (Fairfax, Va.) and Lenny Tam (Waltham, Mass.) defeated Grant Garcia and Mike Dallaire of Nichols, 8-4. Nolen and Tam lost in the quarterfinals and the consolation semifinals, as did Shane Phillip (Brockton, Mass.) and Jayson Vega (Ponce, Puerto Rico).

Matt DaRosso (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) competed in the "A" doubles flight, but they also lost in both the quarterfinals and the consolation semifinals.

Regis (0-1) returns to dual competition this Thursday, Sept. 19, heading west to face Springfield College starting at 4 p.m. The Pride's final home contest of the fall kicks off Regis Fest, welcoming Wentworth Saturday, Sept. 28, for a 10 a.m. match.
