Pride Win 9-0 Against Norwich

NATICK, Mass. – The Regis College men's tennis team kept their playoff hopes alive Thursday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match at the Natick Racquet Club. 

The match started with singles play, where Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas) took the first point of the day in fifth singles in straight sets, setting the tone for the Pride with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) continued the team's winning ways with a 6-0, 6-3 victory in his match. Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) won in fourth singles 6-0, 6-2, while Sebastian Torres (San Juan, Puerto Rico) earned the fourth point for Regis with a 6-3, 6-1 victory against his singles opponent.

The Pride clinched the overall victory in sixth singles where Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) defeated Tim Birnbaum, 6-4, 6-3. Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) played in a three-set match against Alexi Gilmore, coming back from dropping the first set to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

The Pride swept all three doubles matches on the day to secure the 9-0 victory.

Norwich (8-11, 0-4 GNAC) will finish out the regular season on Saturday, Apr. 20 when they travel to Suffolk.

Regis (10-10, 3-2 GNAC) has concluded the regular season and will now wait for members of the GNAC to finish conference play to determine seeding for the conference tournament.
