Pride Tennis Unable to Overcome Early Deficit

WORCESTER, Mass. – Regis College fell behind early and could not recover, losing to Clark University, 7-2, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference men's collegiate tennis dual match at the Corash Tennis Courts.

Clark (7-7) swept the doubles sets to take a 3-0 lead heading into singles. The Cougars picked up a straight-set victory at number three singles, and then they earned another one at number two singles to clinch the overall team match.

Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) registered the first point of the match for the Pride with a straight-set victory (6-3, 6-4) at number four singles. After Clark earned another point at number one singles, Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas) was victorious at number five singles in straight sets (6-4, 7-6), including a 7-4 tiebreaker victory to clinch the second set and the match.

Regis (6-7) starts a busy week of three road matches in five days with a conference clash against Eastern Nazarene Tuesday, April 2, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
