Men’s Tennis Drops Match to Emerson

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's tennis team fell in non-conference action Friday afternoon at the Regis Tennis Center with a final of 5-4 to Emerson.

In doubles, Emerson's first doubles pairing of Bass Lin and Dan Okin defeated Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Sebastian Torres (San Juan, Puerto Rico), 8-5.  Third doubles would conclude shortly after with the Pride's pairing of Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) and Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas) winning the match, 8-3. The final doubles contest to conclude was second doubles where Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) and Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) were unable to overcome the Lions' Maximo Lawlor and Sarya Sundararajan giving Emerson the edge after doubles.

Trailing 2-1 going into singles, the Pride would drop the first singles matchup between Lin and Torres, with Lin taking the victory (6-2, 6-2).  After a hard fought match in second singles Emerson's Lawlor would defeat Horton (6-0, 6-3). Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) would start a streak of three straight points for the Pride, picking up the win in sixth singles (6-3, 6-1).  Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) would finish moments later with a victory in fifth singles, defeating Bernardo Garza (6-1, 6-2). The fourth singles match between Pallotta and Brock Higley would also go in favor of the Pride with Pallotta winning the match (6-2, 6-0)

With the match count tied at four apiece, the third singles match between Bebarta and Okin ended with Okin taking the victory (6-1, 6-4).

The Pride end the fall season with a record of 5-2 overall and will begin conference play in the spring.  They will start the spring with a match against Cedarville on the team's spring break trip to Florida.
