Men’s Tennis Earns First Victory

WENHAM, Mass. – The Regis College men's tennis team brought home their first win of the season Thursday evening, defeating Gordon College, 7-2.

The match started with the Pride sweeping the doubles portion of the day.  Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and Sebastian Torres (San Juan, Puerto Rico) won their match in first doubles to jumpstart the Pride, 8-2.  Following them was the duo of Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) and Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.), who would take the match at second doubles, 8-4.  In the third doubles, Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) and Owen Pelissier (Hingham, Mass.) closed out their match, 9-7.

Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) would lead off singles play, winning in fifth singles (6-2, 6-1).  The clinching point of the match would come from Bebarta, who would win his match in third singles (6-3, 6-1).

Gordon would win two of the next three matches before the day ended with Horton winning in a super tiebreaker (6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (10-6)).

The Pride will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 25, traveling to Salve Regina.  They will return home for Regis Fest, taking on St. Michael's College on Saturday, Sept. 29, at 3:30 p.m. at the Regis Tennis Center.
