WINTHROP, Mass. - Three student-athletes from the Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team have been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference. The announcement came from the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.), junior Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine), and sophomore Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) were all named to the GNAC First Team All-Conference in singles, while the tandem of Harrow and Horton were named First Team All-GNAC in doubles play. Sophomore Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) also garnered recognition from the conference on Wednesday, as he was named to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Harrow went 9-8 this season in singles play, all from the top spot in the Pride lineup. His nine singles wins was tied with Horton for most on the Pride. Harrow went 2-1 in singles during GNAC play.
Horton's singles record this season was 9-7, and he was the only Pride men's tennis player to win all three of his singles matches in GNAC play at 3-0. Horton was 1-0 from the number one position, while going 8-7 from the two spot.
The duo of Harrow and Horton was positioned in the one position for the Pride for the majority of the season, going 9-6 in doubles competition. In three conference matches, the Pride went a perfect 9-0 in doubles play, led by Harrow and Horton.
Bebarta was tied for third on the Pride with eight singles wins this season, going 8-6 on the year. He was a perfect 1-0 in conference singles matches, and played primarily from the three position, where he went 5-3 overall. In doubles, Bebarta was tied for the team lead with nine wins, going 9-8 overall this season.
Russell was an unstoppable force for the Pride this season, going a perfect 8-0 in singles matches and 11-1 overall. With the perfect record this season, Russell currently sits as the Pride's all-time singles record holder in win percentage at .909 with a record of 20-2 through two seasons.
