Men's Tennis Gets Past Johnson & Wales on Senior Day

WESTON, Mass. - Senior Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) picked up his 99th and 100th career wins on Saturday afternoon as the Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 win over Johnson & Wales in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at the Regis Tennis Center.

With the win, the Pride improves to 12-5 on the season, finishing out its first regular season in the GNAC at 3-0. Johnson & Wales falls to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the GNAC.

Before the match, head coach John Ciarleglio was honored for his 100th coaching win, which he accomplished last month in the Pride's win over Penn State-Berks in Florida. Harrow was also honored as the Pride's lone senior on Senior Day.

Harrow and teammate Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) helped the hosts to an early 3-0 lead, clinching an 8-4 victory at first doubles over JWU's Ryan Schiele (Lusby, Md.) and Gianni Rodrigues (Milton, Mass.). The win was preceded by an 8-1 win by freshmen Tim Miller (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas) at third doubles and an 8-2 win at second doubles by Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) and Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.).

The Wildcats refused to go down quietly, however, picking up three singles wins. Senior Jack Hopkins (Hamilton, Mass.) opened singles play by picking up the first point of the day for the Wildcats, defeating Pride freshman Matt DaRosso (Yonkers, N.Y.) 6-1, 6-1. Harrow's 100th individual win pushed the Wildcats to the brink at first singles. Alexander Rohana (Providence, R.I.) got one back for Johnson & Wales at third singles, but Horton clinched the victory for the Pride from the second position, defeating Rodrigues 6-4, 6-2.

Next up for the Pride, they'll close out the regular season on Monday by hosting Clark University in non-conference action at the Regis Tennis Center. JWU wraps up its GNAC regular season tomorrow with a home match against Norwich at Rhode Island College at 1:00 p.m.
