John Ciarleglio Wins 100th Career Match, Men's Tennis Tops Penn State-Berks

ORLANDO – The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team closed its 2018 spring break trip with head coach John Ciarleglio notching his 100th career victory in an 8-1 win over Penn State-Berks Friday at the Lake Cane Tennis Center.

The Pride quickly swept through doubles play with Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) and Owen Pelissier (Hingham, Mass.) setting the tone on the No. 3 court in an 8-0 win over the Berks pair of Frederico Ochoa and Curtis Uhle. The Pride (9-3) tandems of Chris Harrow (Reading, Mass.) and Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine), and Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) and Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) both won 8-3 on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts, respectively for the 3-0 lead.

In singles action, Tim Miller (North Attleboro, Mass.) was the first to finish beating Grant Batzer 6-0, 6-4 at the four. Harrow then provided the match clincher at first singles with his 6-1, 6-1 win over Will Byler for his second win of the day.

Bebarta closed the afternoon with his win at the two in what proved to be the most competitive on the afternoon. Bebarta won set one on a tiebreaker against Mostafa Rahmy but was pushed to a third set before sealing the match with a 7-6 (5), 3-6, 11-9 win.

The other singles wins were all won via sweeps by Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Mass.) at the three and Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) at the five. Matt DaRosso (Yonkers, N.Y.) suffered the lone loss of the day for the Pride in a 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 loss to Shane Leaf at sixth singles.

Regis returns to action for its spring home opener on Tuesday, March 20 with a 4:30 p.m. match against Clark.
