Men's Tennis Too Much for King's (Pa.)

ORLANDO - The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team kept it rolling, sweeping doubles play en route to a 7-2 win over King's College (Pa.) Tuesday at the Lake Cane Tennis Center. Regis improves to 7-2 this season and 2-0 this spring while the Monarch's fall to 4-3.

The Pride grabbed a foothold of the match with its doubles sweep. The Regis pair of Chris Harrow (Reading, Mass.) and Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) was the first to finish, topping Nate Carl (Hummelstown, Pa.) and Tyler Millan (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) on the No. 1 court. Tim Miller (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Mitchell Weiner (Plano, Texas) won at third doubles before Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) and Owen Pelissier (Hingham, Mass.) battled it out with the Monarch tandem of Terry Briggs (Pittston, Pa.) and Austin Mackey (Peckville, Pa.) for a 9-7 win at the two.

Regis clinched the match early in singles play, winning on the No. 1 and No. 4 courts to earn the deciding fourth point. Horton captured his second win of the day over Carl, winning 6-3, 6-2 at first singles and Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) beat Mackey 6-2, 6-1.

The final two matches of the day saw a pair of three-set wins by both teams. Cameron Tuck (Shavertown, Pa.) fell to Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 and the Monarch's Jason Homschek (Pittston, Pa.) rallied for a 1-6, 7-6 (6), 10-8 win over Matt DaRosso (Yonkers, N.Y.).

Regis concludes the day with a match this evening against Judson (IL) at the USTA National Campus. Doubles play begins at 7:00 p.m. King's faces Ursinus College on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.
