SALEM, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team extended its winning streak to two on Tuesday afternoon, shutting out the Vikings of Salem State University by a score of 9-0.

With the win, the Pride improves to 2-1 on the year. Salem State slips to 0-1 after the season-opening defeat.

The Pride swept the Vikings in singles play to open up the afternoon, clinching the match before the start of doubles play. Sophomore Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) picked up the first win of the day for Regis, winning 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine), Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) and Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) all followed suit for the Pride by winning in singles play, setting the table for sophomore Evan Russell (East Wareham, Mass.) to clinch the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.

At the start of doubles play, Bebarta and Pallotta opened up with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Harrow and Horton and rookies Tim Miller (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Owen Pelissier (Hingham, Mass.) would do the same, winning 8-3 and 8-5 at first and third doubles respectively to clinch the sweep for Regis.

The Pride will look to extent its winning streak to three when it hosts Salve Regina next Tuesday at the Regis Tennis Center. Salem State returns to the courts on Sept. 27 hosting Bentley University.
