Men's Tennis Tops Becker, Claims Fifth NECC Tournament Title

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team swept doubles and cruised through singles en route to a 9-0 win over Becker to win its fifth straight New England Collegiate Conference tournament title, Monday at the Regis Tennis Center. Regis closes the season at 17-5 with the Hawks finishing with a 5-6 record.

Following the match, Nolan Bebarta, Jeremy Morgenbesser, Nick Hildreth and Luke Horton were named to the all-tournament team and Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) took home tournament Most Valuable Player honors.

Despite the dominant win, the Pride got off to a slow start with some early trouble in doubles play. The ship was quickly righted as Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) and Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) topped the Becker pair of Connor Allison (Hillsboro, Ore.) and Aaron Peterson (San Diego, Calif.) at first doubles, 8-2 with Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) and Kyle Dugat (Houston, Texas) beating Throngpol Chinpanjapol (Barre, Mass.) and Thomas Lanphear (Manchester, Maine) 8-3 on the No. 2 court.

Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) and Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) had little trouble at third doubles, winning easily 8-0.

After Horton's 6-0, 6-0 win over Allison at third singles, the Pride clinched the title on the five court. Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) topped Alex Kielczewski (Grand Prairie, Texas) 6-0, 6-0 to seal the win and tournament championship.

It was a special day for seniors Hildreth, Polley and Morgenbesser who each completed a run of four NECC titles in four seasons with the Pride.
