Regis Men’s Swim Team Falls in Saturday Meet

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Regis College men's swimming and diving team lost to Babson College and Norwich University in a double dual meet Saturday hosted by Babson at the Morse Pool.

Regis's lone event victory of the meet came in the 500 freestyle, as Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.) held off Norwich's William Micali by a half-second with a winning time of 5:26.49, Pike's best collegiate time in the event.

GianCarlos Banrey (Roslindale, Mass.) finished second in the 50 freestyle in 22.88 seconds, the best time of the season in the event by any Pride swimmer, and in the 100 butterfly in 54.14 seconds. In addition, Banrey posted the second-fastest 100 butterfly split among the third leg competitors in the 400 medley relay at 53.04 seconds, helping the relay team post a time of 3:52.93.

Joshua Unas (Santa Clarita, Calif.) finished fourth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:09.61, more than a second faster than his previous season-best time. Unas also finished third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.02, touching the wall before any Norwich competitor.

Regis (2-3) heads to Standish, Maine, for a dual meet against GNAC rival Saint Joseph's College next Saturday, Nov. 17, starting at 12 p.m.
