Pride Men’s Swimming Loses Dual Meet to Bridgewater State

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Regis College could not overcome the depth of Bridgewater State, as the Bears defeated the Pride, 204-71, Saturday afternoon in a men's collegiate swimming and diving dual meet at the Moriarty Pool.

Kevin Dugue (Roslindale, Mass.) picked up one of Regis's two victories of the meet, winning the 50 backstroke in 28.57 seconds, more than two seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. Dugue also finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.07, and he swam the third leg of the 200 freestyle relay, posting a 50 free split of 23.47 seconds, best on the Pride relay squad.

Grant Kollien (Acton, Mass.) performed well in the distance events, finishing second in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:23.51 and in the 500 freestyle in 5:32.74. Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.) ended up in third place in both events, posting times of 11:36.19 in the 1000 freestyle and 5:37.83 in the 500 freestyle.

Joshua Unas (Santa Clarita, Calif.) won the 100 individual medley, earned second-place finishes in the 50 breaststroke in 29.36 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.00, plus he anchored the 200 freestyle relay with a 50 free split of 23.80 seconds. Connor Schwarze (Melrose, Mass.) touched the wall second in both the 50 freestyle in 24.12 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 52.19 seconds, plus he posted a 50 free split of 24.30 seconds as the second leg of the 200 freestyle relay. Ryan Tinney (Manchester, Conn.) finished third in the 100 individual medley in 1:07.13.

Regis (1-1) returns to the Athletics Center Pool on campus next Saturday, Nov. 3, for a dual meet against Gordon College starting at 11 a.m.
