WINTHROP, Mass. - Regis (Mass.) men's swimming and diving freshman Grant Kollien (Acton, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. The announcement came from the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Kollien won three races to help Regis to a tri-meet win vs. Simmons/Colby-Sawyer. He won the first individual event with a time of 11:26.12 to own the 1000-yard freestyle by more than 26 seconds and turned right around to win the 200-yard freestyle in the next event by 19 seconds with a mark of 2:04.12. He later posted a 10-plus second win in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:28.32. It is the second time this season that Kollien has received the award.
Jessica Higgins (Peabody, Mass.) of the women's swimming and diving team was named to the GNAC weekly honor roll for her performance at the Simmons tri-meet.
Kollien, Higgins, and the rest of the Pride will return to the pool for a dual-meet at Elms College on Saturday.
