Men’s Soccer Comeback in Second Half to Win GNAC Match

WESTON, Mass.Ken Niyonzima (Dracut, Mass.) and Derek Triana (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) each scored once as the Regis College men's soccer team came back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat the AMCATS of Anna Maria, 2-1, Wednesday night at Regis Stadium in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match.

The match started with the Pride going down a goal after the AMCATS' Nick Lawrence scored off a pass from Connor Francis, as Lawrence ran down into the right corner of the box and fired into the lower right corner past the goalkeeper.

In the second half, Niyonzima was on the receiving end of a through ball from Jared Barroso (Central Falls, R.I), which he took and fired into the right side of the net past Jeffre Donahue who recorded three saves on the day.

Triana would also get some help from Barrosso, who lofted a pass over a defender that landed at the feet of Triana.  After a few steps forward, Triana would score, giving the Pride the go-head goal.

Regis goalkeeper Jesse Bonilla (Ramona, Calif.) would pick up his seventh win of the season.

The Pride, who currently hold a record of 8-4-2 overall and 4-4-2 in GNAC play, will host Colby-Sawyer on Saturday, Oct. 20 in their final regular season conference match before ending the regular season facing Emerson on Tuesday, Oct. 23. Saturday will be senior day as the Pride will recognize their four seniors before the match.
