PILGRIMS SLIP PAST PRIDE IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College forward Manny Arteaga (Norwalk, Conn.) put in a loose ball off a Regis defender 5:54 into the second overtime to lift the Pilgrims over the Pride 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win New England improves to 2-2-1 overall, while the Pride fall to 1-4-0 on the season.

The hosts got on the board five minutes into the second half of play as junior midfielder Rob Lucas (Hooksett, N.H.) was able to convert on a penalty kick attempt.

Regis wasted little time and responded just two minutes later as Renato Rosas (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) found the back of the net for the second time this season from an assist by Jeff Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) to knot the game at 1-1.

The Pride took the lead at the 80:10 mark when junior Nick Tavares (Bellingham, Mass.) finished off a pass through the middle from classmate Billy Sedewitz (Framingham, Mass.). Unfortunately the lead would not last long, as the Pilgrims tied the game 17 seconds later when Julian Yourawski (Peabody, Mass.) one-timed a pass from Sebastian Manteau (Pittsfield, N.H.).

New England went on to win the game in the second overtime after an unlucky bounce in front of the Regis goal found the back of the net. Goalkeepers Chris Campbell (South Hadley, Mass.) and Stefan Todorovic (Los Angeles, Calif.) split time in net for the Pride. Campbell made three saves on the day, while Todorovic picked up one save.

Regis returns to action on Saturday afternoon as the team hosts Clark University for a 12:00 p.m. non-conference game.
