Men’s Lacrosse Loses Road Conference Match

BOSTON, Mass. – Regis College fell to Emmanuel College, 18-6, Tuesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's lacrosse match at Roberto Clemente Field.

Michael Tremblay (Arlington, Mass.) led the Pride with two goals and one assist, while Michael Daras (Danvers, Mass.) dished out two assists. Defensively, Logan Bateman (Claremont, N.H.) led the way with four ground balls and four caused turnovers, and goalie JJ LaRose (Litchfield, N.H.) collected eight saves, five of them in the second half.

After over five minutes of scoreless play to start the match, Emmanuel took advantage of consecutive extra-man opportunities, scoring twice with the man-advantage in the span of 52 seconds. The Saints extended their lead to 5-0 with three more goals as the first quarter went along, starting with Alex Flanagan's second goal of the night.

The Pride finally broke through with 1:07 remaining in the first quarter as Tremblay assisted on a goal by Tucker Cherry (Franklin, Mass.). After the Saints earned the final score of the opening quarter, Regis closed to within three at 7-4 with goals by Tremblay, Zach Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.), and Arpan Kakadia (Pembroke, N.H.) within the first four minutes of the second quarter.

Emmanuel (2-5, 2-0 GNAC) doubled its advantage with three straight goals to close out the first half, and then the Saints extended their lead to 11-4 early in the third quarter. Brian Wagner (Melrose, Mass.) scored on an extra-man opportunity, but Emmanuel closed out the third quarter with three straight goals, and then the Saints scored four of the five goals in the final quarter to complete their victory.

Flanagan led the Saints with five goals, Matt Katon finished with four goals and two assists, and two other Emmanuel players notched hat tricks with three goals apiece. Emmanuel starting goalie Aric Graves was credited with two saves before being replaced midway through the fourth quarter by Peyton Goodwin.

Regis (2-3, 0-3 GNAC) hosts Saint Joseph's College of Maine Saturday afternoon, March 30, starting at 1 p.m. at Regis Stadium. The Pride have partnered with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation to raise awareness and funds for the Vs. Cancer program before and at halftime of Saturday's match.
