WESTON, Mass. - Just over a month away from its season-opener, the Regis (Mass.) men's lacrosse team held its first practice of the 2018 season on Monday afternoon at Regis Stadium.

"We didn't have lofty goals the first day," said head coach Randy Fraser. "We did our physical fitness testing which we wanted to get completed, and then we got the sticks for about an hour. We got a good start."

"Everyone showed a lot of heart with the conditions," said senior attackman Danny Rancano (Miami, Fla.). "That's the same mentality we're going to keep throughout the season, and it's going to be a successful one."

The weather was not ideal on Monday, with temperatures in the 30s and a light drizzle throughout the practice, but that didn't faze the Pride. "This is a day in paradise for us," said Rancano. "This is nothing, we've seen 20s, we've seen worse. It was a great day for us."

"Tomorrow is the day we really start to teach - we really start to play lacrosse," said Fraser.

The Pride opens its 2018 season on Saturday, February 24 when the team welcomes Dean College to Regis Stadium for a 2:00 p.m. face-off. The team will play its first ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference game just over a month later when it travels to Rivier on March 28.
