SALEM, Mass.Alex Ferran (Miami, Fla.) scored two goals in the final 1:02 of regulation to push the game to overtime but it wasn't enough as the Regis (Mass.) men's lacrosse team fell 7-6 in overtime to Salem State Friday at Alumni Field.

After Ferran's two scores cut the deficit to one, Calvin Brault (Colchester, Vt.) scored with six seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. The Pride could not carry the momentum into the extra frame however as Craig Denehy (Salem, Mass.) netted the game-winner with just over a minute remaining in the first overtime. The Vikings are now 1-2 on the season while Regis remains winless at 0-3.

A scoreless first period preceded a seven-goal second quarter which saw Salem State take a 5-2 advantage into halftime. Nick Romig (Dedham, Mass.) potted the first goal of the game, staking the Pride to a 1-0 lead. Charlie Bourgeois (Billerica, Mass.) then tied the game for the Vikings before Craig Denehy (Salem, Mass.) provided Salem State with a one-goal advantage.

Brault temporarily evened the game again for Regis, scoring with a man-advantage, before the Vikings closed the quarter scoring three goals over the final 5:05. Hunter Spencer (Beverly, Mass.), Tyler L'Italien (Haverhill, Mass.) and William Brown (North Reading, Mass.) all notched a goal during the run.

Brault netted his second of the game just fifteen seconds into the third to cut the deficit to 5-3 at the end of the third.

Bourgeois increased the lead to 6-3 just over five minutes into the fourth, scoring his second goal of the game. With the win seemingly in hand, the Pride exploded for three unanswered goals in just 56, two by Alex Ferran and the equalizer by Brault with just six seconds remaining to stun the Vikings and force overtime.

In the extra period, Salem State killed off a penalty before Denehy ripped the game winner past Pride goalie D.J. Barrile (Medford, Mass.) on a feed from Brown with just over a minute remaining in the first overtime.

Bourgeois and Denehy led the attack for Salem State, combining for four goals and three assists. Brault added a hat-trick and an assist for the Pride. Chris Schaub (Brewster, N.Y.) made 18 saves in the win while Barrile stopped 15 shots for Regis.

Salem State goes to St. Joseph's (Maine) on Sunday for a make-up game at 1:00 p.m. Regis will host the Monks at home on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
