LEIGHTON, VOGAN, POWER PRIDE PAST EAGLES

NASHUA, N.H. – Regis College improved to 7-4 overall with a 19-3 victory over Daniel Webster College on Thursday afternoon at Eagle Field in Nashua, N.H.

Peter Leighton (Wilmington, Mass.) led Regis with four goals and two assists, while Matt Vogan (Billerica, Mass.) added four scores. Chris Campbell (South Hadley, Mass.) notched a hat trick and Nicky Rodrigo (Miami, Fla.) finished with two goals and three assists. Peter Fucci (Amherst, N.H.) chipped in with a goal and two assists.

Tyler Estes (Geneva, Ill.) and D.J. Barrile (Medford, Mass.) combined for eight saves in the Pride goal, while Curtis Larade (Merrimack, N.H.) and James Bushey (Hamden, Conn.) combined for 10 saves for Daniel Webster, which dropped to 0-6 overall.

Sean Hamilton (Brookline, N.H.), David Downie (Merrimack, N.H.) and Anthony Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) picked up goals for the Eagles while Andrew Sousa dished off a pair of assists and led DWC with four groundballs.

Regis built leads of 9-1 after one quarter and led 14-2 after two. Both Leighton and Rodrigo potted a pair of goals each in the opening quarter and the Pride built a 5-0 lead over the opening four minutes and led 6-0 before Downie put the Eagles on the board with a shorthanded score for this team-leading seventh strike of the season with 4:52 remaining.

Vogan would net two goals in the second quarter and Regis led 12-1 when Cotoni picked up his third of the year 5:41 before the half.

Leighton, Vogan, Campbell and Alex Graf (Newton, Mass.) netted solo scores in the third quarter while Hamilton added his third of the season with a man-advantage for an 18-3 game after three.

Regis outshot DWC 40-17 overall (29-11 on goal) and combined for four extra-man goals.

The Pride return to action on Saturday when they host Johnson and Wales University in a 1:00 p.m. game.
