CAMPBELL NETS TWO IN LOSS TO BABSON 19-2

WESTON, Mass.- The Regis College men's lacrosse team fell to Pilgrim League opponent Babson College Saturday afternoon by the score of 19-2. The loss moves Regis to 3-10 overall on the season and 0-4 in the Pilgrim League. Babson moves to 9-5 on the season and 3-1 in Pilgrim play.

The Beavers tallied the first goal of the game off a man-up opportunity early in the first quarter when Cam Caruso (St. Charles Ill.) connected on a pass from Mike Griffin (Duxbury, Mass.) to make the score 1-0. Regis answered four minutes later with a goal from Chris Campbell (South Hadley, Mass.) to tie the game up at 1-1.

Babson would tack on three more goals before the end of the first quarter with two coming from Phil Russo (Middleton, Mass.) and one from Caruso to put the score at 4-1.

The Beavers added to their lead in the second quarter by notching five tallies from five different players before halftime to put the score at 9-1.

In the third quarter Campbell tallied the second goal of the game for the Pride as he pushed high pipe and shot off roll-dodge to move the score to 2-9.

The fourth quarter was dominated by the Beavers Scott Schachter (Rumford, R.I.) who erupted for a three quick goals. Caruso tallied the final point of the game by completing a pass from Jamie Schmidt (Shelburne, V.t.) to put the Beavers total to 19 for the day.

Babson was led on offense by Schachter who had a team high in goals with three. Caruso and Russo were second on the team in scoring by notching three goals apiece. The Beavers played three goal keepers during the game. James Whalen (Westwood, Mass.), Adam Daroff (Pepper Pike, Ohio), and Ryan Lee (Wallingford, Conn.) combined to tally 11 saves on the match.

The Pride was led on offense by Campbell who scored the both goals for Regis. On defense the Pride split time in goal between Breandan Crane (Billerica, Mass.) and Andrew Madden (North Easton, Mass.) who combined to tally 29 saves on the game.

Regis will play Massachusetts Maritime Academy in its next match-up on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
