REGIS COMEBACK FALLS SHORT IN OT

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Regis College men's basketball team overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to force overtime, but the Pride fell to Waynesburg University 64-56 on Friday afternoon as a part of the Bill Sudeck Holiday Tournament Consolation Game. The Pride drops to 3-5 this year and will travel to New York City following the New Year to play in the NYU Tournament.

The Pride trailed 25-18 heading into the second period but climbed back into the game to make it a 35-29 game on a pair of Lewis Smith (Boston, Mass.) freethrows. Regis got within four on an Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.) freethrow with 7:08 remaining and finally made it a one possession game on a layup by Smith and a freethrow from Robert Edwards (Memphis, Tenn.). Jonathon Josselin's (Medford, Mass.) sunk two freebies with 11 seconds remaining to tie the game at 49 before Waynesburg's Jacob Fleegle missed a three pointer with four seconds left to send the game into overtime.

Waynesburg started the extra frame on a 7-0 run, prompting a Regis timeout. Regis would get no closer as the Yellow Jackets held off the Pride for the 64-56 win.

Lewis Smith came off the bench to lead all scorers with 20 points and also added seven rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Josselin joined him in double figures with 11 points. Osanto Marc had nine points and seven rebounds while Robert Edwards had five points and seven boards of his own.
