2019 REGIS COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY SCHEDULE
WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College field hockey program has finalized its competition schedule for the 2019 season, featuring nine home matches at Regis Stadium as part of a 17-game slate.
The Pride will open the season with a short trip to Becker College to face the Hawks Tuesday, Sept. 3. Regis begins its home schedule with non-conference matches against Western Connecticut State Saturday, Sept. 7, and Framingham State Wednesday, Sept. 11.
The first Regis match within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) sees the Pride traveling to take on defending league champion Saint Joseph's College Saturday, Sept. 14. Regis returns to non-conference action with a road match at Salem State Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 17.
Regis opens a three-match homestand against New England College Thursday night, Sept. 19, followed by an afternoon contest against Manhattanville Saturday, Sept. 21. The field hockey team begins Regis Fest activities on the turf by hosting Simmons Saturday, Sept. 28.
The Pride will play their next four matches on the road, starting Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Dean College. Regis heads to Anna Maria College for a contest Saturday morning, Oct. 5, followed by road games at Eastern Connecticut State Wednesday, Oct. 9, and at Lasell Saturday, Oct. 12.
A four-match homestand awaits the Pride in the second half of October, beginning Thursday night, Oct. 17, against Mount Holyoke. Regis hosts three straight GNAC matches, facing Colby-Sawyer Saturday, Oct. 19, Rivier Thursday, Oct. 24, and Albertus Magnus Saturday, Oct. 26, before closing the regular season at Johnson & Wales Wednesday, Oct. 30.
The top six teams in the final league regular season standings will qualify for the GNAC Tournament, starting with two first round matchups Saturday, Nov. 2. The top two seeds will earn byes and host semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 6, with the championship match scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9.
In 2018, Regis posted a 3-11 overall record, but was competitive in many matches, as seven contests were decided by just one goal, including three overtime decisions. The Pride finished seventh in the GNAC standings last year and aim to qualify for the GNAC Tournament for the first time since joining the conference in 2017.
