Aineen Callahan Earns Second Team All-GNAC Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior forward Aineen Callahan (Diamond Point, N.Y.) will add another conference honor to her resume, as she was voted Second Team All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) by the league's field hockey coaches in voting results announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Callahan led the Pride with eight goals and two assists for 18 total points. In seven conference contests, she finished with five goals and one assist, highlighted by a hat trick at Simmons Oct. 16, leading the Pride in their rally from a three-goal deficit down to one before running out of time.

In the Simmons match, Callahan scored her 30th career goal, breaking Caitlin Connolly's school record for most career goals, a standard that stood for 14 years. Callahan completed her Regis career with 32 goals and 71 total points, just three behind Connolly on the all-time career points list.

Regis is represented on the GNAC Field Hockey All-Sportsmanship Team by senior midfielder Alycia LeConche (Simsbury, Conn.), chosen for her dedication to fair play within competition throughout the season. This season, LeConche started 10 of the 11 matches she appeared in, earning an assist at New England College Oct. 10. LeConche balanced her commitments for the field hockey team with her duties as President of the Student Government Association.

Saint Joseph's College and Lasell, the top two teams in the conference, placed four players each on the All-GNAC First Team. The Monks received four major awards as they won the GNAC Tournament and will represent the conference in the NCAA Tournament starting this week.

The Regis field hockey team, under first-year head coach Annie Villare, played several close matches in 2018, as seven of 14 matches were decided by one goal, including three contests that went into overtime.
