Regis Field Hockey Loses GNAC Contest

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College lost to Lasell College, 6-1, Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference field hockey match at Regis Stadium.

Lasell (13-5, 6-0 GNAC) jumped on the board quickly as Riley Musial scored in the fourth minute. Exactly four minutes later, Megan Horrigan set up Sam Taylor for her 15th goal of the season, extending the Laser lead to 2-0.

Just over 10 minutes after Taylor's goal, Cailin Flannery picked up her 20th goal of the year. Taylor would strike again near the end of the first half, scoring her second goal of the match in the 33rd minute to give Lasell a 4-0 lead at halftime.

After taking just one shot in the first half, Regis was able to create more offensive chances in the second half, culminating with a goal by Ashley Chipman (Stoughton, Mass.) in the 54th minute. However, Lasell would pull away thanks to Musial's second goal of the game in the 58th minute and a tally by Horrigan in the 66th minute.

Erin Moore (Rosedale, Md.) played the entire match in net for the Pride, collecting a career-high 11 saves. Sofia Rodriguez made four saves, all in the second half, as she earned her seventh victory of the season.

Regis will close out the regular season with a home game against Eastern Connecticut State Thursday, Oct. 25, starting at 4:30 p.m.
