NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The offense of Regis College came alive Thursday evening, as the Pride defeated Albertus Magnus, 8-1, in a non-conference collegiate field hockey match at Celentano Field.

Regis started the scoring right away, as Mary Costantino (Abington, Mass.) set up Jillian Schneyer (Worcester, Mass.) for a goal just 2:02 into the contest. A little less than seven minutes later, Yvonne Abate (Easton, Mass.) picked up a goal to increase the Pride lead to 2-0.

Abate would assist on a goal by Sidney Lowe (Lancaster, Mass.) in the 18th minute, and then Hope Celli (Pembroke, Mass.) earned her first career collegiate goal just over three minutes later to extend the Regis advantage to 4-0.

Albertus Magnus (0-7) broke through in the 26th minute with a goal by Morgan Shura, but Regis reestablished its four-goal advantage in the 31st minute on a tally by Ashley Chipman (Stoughton, Mass.), the team leader in first half shots with five, as the Pride took a 5-1 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Regis continued to control the action as Jamie Juskiewicz (Gorham, Maine) scored just over five minutes after halftime. Allison Petillo (Sayville, N.Y.) picked up a goal in the 60th minute, and Abate completed the scoring with her second goal of the match in the 66th minute.

Erin Moore (Rosedale, Md.) picked up her first victory of the season as she played all 70 minutes in net for the Pride. Kasey Herrera made 10 saves for the Falcons as Regis outshot Albertus Magnus, 25-1, and earned all nine penalty corners during the contest.

Regis (2-5) returns home and welcomes Johnson & Wales to Regis Stadium during Regis Fest Saturday, Sept. 29, beginning at 11 a.m.
