PRIDE TIE PROGRAM RECORD, DEFEAT DWC 8-1

NASHUA, N.H. – The Regis College field hockey team ended their 2015 campaign with an 8-1 victory over New England Collegiate Conference Opponent Daniel Webster on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Pride wrapped up their season with a 10-8, 7-3 NECC record and with the loss, the Eagles finished the year with a 0-14, 0-10 NECC mark.

The Crimson and Gold's 10-8 overall finish tied the record for best season in program history. The 1996-97 field hockey squad finished the year with a similar 10-8 overall record.

Mackenzie Cattaruzza (Guilford, Conn.) and Emily McDonald (Plymouth, Mass.) led the Pride with two goals apiece while Laurie DeMars (Maynard, Mass.) picked up three assists. Aineen Callahan (Diamond Point, N.Y.) notched a goal and assist, while Alycia LeConche (Simsbury, Conn.), Jeszy McGuire (Brimfield, Mass.) and Hailee Forest (Amherst, N.H.) scored single goals.

Brittany Tierney (Napean, Ont.) scored for the Eagles off a Kathleen Zimmerman (Monroe, N.C.) pass early in the second half.

Michelle Davis (McKinney, Tex.) made 12 saves for the Eagles, while Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.) stopped three shots and Erin Moore (Rosedale, Md.) turned away two for Regis.

Cattaruzza posted the first two goals of the game on virtually identical pass plays off penalty corners in the fourth and 22nd minutes respectively. Forest and McDonald later scored at the 25th and 27th minutes for a 4-0 lead at the half.

Tierney got the Eagles on the board 1:16 into the second on a play that originated on a penalty corner off the stick of Bryanna Lindsay (Temple, N.H.).

Regis finished with a 24-9 total shots advantage and a 14-12 advantage on penalty corners.

The Pride await their NECC playoffs seed which will be announced sometime next week.
