AKIB, SARSON, LEAD PRIDE OVER EAGLES

NASHUA, N.H. – The Daniel Webster field hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision to Regis in a New England Collegiate Conference matchup Saturday at Harvey Woods Field.

Yasmine Akib (Everett, Mass.) and Becka Sarson (York, Maine) scored first and second half goals, respectively for the Pride, which improved to 4-10 overall (2-1 NECC) while the Eagles fell to 0-9 overall (0-3 NECC).

Danielle Melanson (Derry, N.H.) posted 11 saves for DWC, while Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.) made four stops for Regis. The Pride finished with a 13-4 advantage in shots on goal and racked up 15 penalty corners.

Akib put the visitors ahead 10:14 into the contest off a Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) pass and the score stayed unchanged until Sarson poked home a loose ball off a rebound during a penalty stroke in the 48th minute.

Brandi Ritz (Burlington, N.J.) and Samantha Crooker (Gilford, N.H.) registered two shots on goal each for the hosts.

Regis returns to action when they host Wheelock in a NECC matchup on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
