RAIDERS EDGE PRIDE, 1-0

Nashua, N.H. - Despite outshooting Rivier University by a 10-2 margin, Regis College fell, 1-0 on Thursday evening in the non-conference field hockey action. Freshman Brittani Garza (Alexandria, Va.) scored the lone goal of the game inside the 47 minute mark for the Raiders, who move to 4-7-1 on the year. 

Garza was able to dribble the inside the circle and took a shot that deflected off a Pride defender and over the left shoulder of Regis goaltender Raegan Heck (Phillipston, Mass.). 

The Pride (2-9) were led by sophomore Laurie DeMars (Maynard, Mass.) and senior Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.), who combined for five of Regis' seven shots on goal in the contest. In addition to outshooting the host squad, Regis had ten penalty corners in the game to the Raiders' five.

Junior goaltender Makenzie Flagg (Shirley, Mass.) earned the win in net for Rivier as she stopped all seven shots she faced, including a breakaway opportunity with less than seven minutes to play in the game.

Regis will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Becker College for their New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opener, which begins at 12 p.m.
