NOR'EASTERS STORM PAST PRIDE

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Seven different players found their way into the scoring column as the University of New England defeated Regis College, 13-0, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference field hockey action Saturday afternoon at the the Big Blue Turf.

With their fourth consecutive win overall, the Nor'easters (7-4) improve to 5-1 in TCCC games. The Pride fall to 4-9 on the season (1-4 TCCC) with the loss. It was the sixth straight time Big Blue has topped Regis.

UNE senior Michaela Franey (York, Maine) had herself a record-setting day, tallying six goals to go along with three assists for a total of 15 points. She broke her own single-game goals mark (4) set earlier this season against Salve Regina, and broke the single-game points record of 2007 (9) which had been previously held by Nicole Mace '09.

Franey's performance also moved her career point total (84) past Lisa Baillargeon '08 into second place all-time.

Junior Michelle Oswald (Jay, Maine) notched two goals and two assists in support, and first-year Hannah Tavella (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) added a goal to go with a pair of assists.

First-years Casey Clark (Franconia, N.H.) and Kelsea Beisaw (Jay, Maine) each scored one and helped on another, while first-year Brittany Liptak (Westfield, Mass.) and senior Bri Youland (Turner, Maine) accounted for the rest of the scoring.

UNE senior Ayla Nelson (Auburn, Mass.) did not have to make a save in goal, as the Nor'easters out-shot their opponents, 44-1.

For Regis, which hosts New England College Tuesday, first-year goalkeeper Morgan Mitchell (Ashburnham, Mass.) recorded 18 saves in the losing effort.

Big Blue is back in action the same day, when it entertains UMaine Farmington in a non-conference match beginning at 4 p.m.
