FERRY TURNS HAT TRICK IN FIELD HOCKEY WIN OVER ELMS

WESTON, Mass.—Regis College field hockey (1-1) captured its first win of the season with a 3-0 defeat of Elms College (0-1) Wednesday. Regis' Candace Ferry pulled a hat trick, scoring all three of the Pride's goals in the win. Two of Ferry's goals were assisted. Molly Texiera (Rindge, N.H.) and Kymberly Kerr assisted Ferry.

Ferry had the second number of shots and shots on goal, tallying seven shots in both categories. Meghan Robohm had a team-high nine shots. In comparison, just two players for Elms managed shots on Regis' Morgan Mitchell (Ashburnham, Mass./Oakmont Regional). Jenna Lipscomb and Brianna Lyons took a shot, and shot on goal. Lyons contributed three defensive saves.

As a team Regis had 22 shots on Alexandria Bonavita, with 21 shots being on goal. Bonavita had 13 saves for the Blazers.

Three goals is the most that Regis has scored in 15 contests, dating back to Sept. 16 of 2009 when Regis scored two goals versus Daniel Webster. The Pride will host conference foe Western New England (Sept. 11) to open conference play. Elms will play in the Betty Richey Field Hockey Invitational hosted by Vassar College.
