LISA LEVIERGE ANNOUNCED AS NEW FIELD HOCKEY AND SOFTBALL COACH

Weston, Mass.-Regis College Director of Athletics, Marybeth Lamb, announced Thursday the hiring of Lisa LeVierge as the Pride's new head coach for field hockey and softball.

"She knows Regis," said Lamb. "She has already laid out a plan to return Regis to prominence in both field hockey and softball."

LeVierge is a 2004 graduate of Nichols College, a Commonwealth Coast Conference rival. At Nichols LeVierge was a two-sport athlete playing field hockey and softball while lettering in both sports. She also received the Female Senior Athlete of the Year award.

"Lisa's playing and coaching experience within the TCCC gave her an edge above other candidates," said Lamb.

Since departing Nichols LeVierge has continued to coach the sports that she loves. Before starting her collegiate coaching career LeVierge served time as the varsity head coach for field hockey at Merrimack High School in New Hampshire. In 2006 she led Merrimack to its first-ever appearance in the state tournament.

She has also coached softball as head coach for the Central Catholic junior varsity team where she led the team to a record breaking undefeated season in 2005.

In 2007 LeVierge returned to her alma mater to be the assistant field hockey coach where she helped lead the Bison to a 16-7 record, and make an appearance in the TCCC finals and ECAC semifinals.

While at Nichols LeVierge helped coach a TCCC Rookie of the Year, and three All-TCCC selection team members.

LeVierge will take over two programs that have struggled to retain players and win games in the last two years. "Lisa has a strong recruiting, coaching and playing history that will make an outstanding contribution to both the field hockey and softball programs as we begin a new era in Regis athletics," Lamb stated.

Field Hockey has one overall win since 2007, none in TCCC contests.

Softball had five overall wins in 2008 with one conference victory. The team will return four TCCC Honorable Mention players, one being the TCCC Rookie of the year in Caitlin Luquet (Walnut Creek, CA).
