BISON PREVAIL, REGIS FALLS 7-0 TO NICHOLS

DUDLEY, Mass. (Oct. 13) - Seven different Bison scored as Nichols College remained unbeaten on the season with a 7-0 home victory over Regis in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference game at Vendetti Field Tuesday evening. Nichols runs its program-record win streak to 13 games and improves to 6-0 in TCCC matches, while the Pride is still searching for its first win on the year at 0-9 overall and 0-5 in conference action.

The action was slow to start as neither team registered a shot until 12 minutes into the game. The shots then came in bunches as Nichols held a 2-0 lead headed into halftime on goals from Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, Mass.), who took a break from her usual spot in net, and Eileen Clinton (Londonderry, N.H.).

Leading scorer Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, Mass.) opened the second-half scoring early before the Bison erupted for four goals in less than eight minutes to edge ahead to the 7-0 final.

Jensen Hume (Hampton, N.H.) set up a goal for Courtney Flagg (Spofford, N.H.) before sending in a corner that Barbara Roy (Springfield, Mass.) nailed into the net in the 62nd minute. Hume then converted a goal of her own in the 66th minute, off a pass from Maria Testa (Clinton, Mass.). Testa capped the scoring by finishing off a long hit from Alexa Boucher (W. Springfield, Mass.) in the 67th minute.

MaryKate Bednarz (Springfield, Mass.) earned the win for the Bison in her first start of the season, while Sara Ankerud (Groton, Mass.) shouldered the loss for the Pride with 13 saves.

Regis is back in action Thursday at 7 p.m. when the Pride hosts Gordon. Nichols takes a break from conference play to host Fitchburg State Thursday night at 7 p.m. The Bison will Play 4 the Cure to help fight breast cancer and will also honor their four seniors that evening. Nichols encourages all fans to wear pink to Thursday's game to help support Play 4 the Cure.
