Winter 2022 Senior Spotlight - Swimming & Diving

WESTON, Mass. - Prior to the Jan. 22 meet against Elms College, seven members of the Regis College swimming and diving team were honored for their contributions to the program. 

One of this year's captains, Kyleigh Boatwright (Roseville, Calif.) won the GNAC title in the 200 backstroke during the 2020 conference championships, plus she finished fourth in the 100 individual medley and sixth in the 100 backstroke. She also earned All-New England honors at the 2020 NEISDA Championships with a third place finish in the 200 backstroke and seventh place finish in the 100 individual medley. At the 2022 GNAC Championships, she collected All-GNAC honors with a second place finish in the 100 backstroke and third place finish in the 200 backstroke. Kyleigh also finished second in the 200 backstroke, tied for second in the 100 individual medley, and third in the 100 backstroke at the 2022 NEISDA Championships. Kyleigh is a part of the Regis all-time top 20 times list in eight different events. A two-time Academic All-GNAC and four-time NEISDA All-Academic honoree, she graduated in May with her nursing degree. 
Another of the team's captains this year, Thalia Bowie (Lexington, Mass.) finished fourth in the 400 individual medley at the 2019 conference meet and fifth in the 1650 freestyle at the 2020 GNAC championships. She also earned All-New England honors with a seventh place finish in the 1000 freestyle at the 2019 NEISDA Championships. At the 2022 GNAC Championships, she finished fourth in the 50 breaststroke and fifth in the 200 breaststroke. Thalia went on to finish sixth in the 50 breaststroke and seventh in the 200 breaststroke at the 2022 NEISDA Championships. In 2021, Thalia received the Regis-Casserly and Senior Scholar-Athlete awards and was a finalist for the GNAC Woman of the Year Award. Already with her bachelor's degree in nursing, Thalia is enrolled in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, plus she is a three-time Academic All-GNAC and six-time NEISDA All-Academic honoree.

Julia Burke (Barrington, N.H.) is a three-time GNAC champion as part of the victorious 200 medley relay squad in both 2019 and 2020 as well as the 50 breaststroke champion in 2020. She received the 2022 Regis-Casserly Award for excellence in athletics, academics, leadership, and service. Julia collected All-GNAC honors at the 2022 conference meet by finishing second in the 50 breaststroke. Julia picked up All-New England honors at the 2022 NEISDA Championships with a fourth place finish in the 50 breaststroke, a seventh place finish in the 100 breaststroke, and an eighth place finish in the 200 breaststroke. In Regis history, she holds the second-best time in the 50 breaststroke and the third-fastest time in the 100 breaststroke. A two-time Academic All-GNAC and six-time NEISDA All-Academic honoree, Julia graduated with bachelor's degrees in both cybersecurity and criminal justice as she heads towards law school.

Abigail Geaney (Lynn, Mass.) showed significant improvement during her time with the Pride swimming program, posting a personal best mark of 29.59 seconds in the 50 freestyle during the December 3 meet against Elms. At the 2020 GNAC Championships, she competed in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, finishing 21st in the 100 freestyle with a personal best time of 1:06.71. She qualified for the "B" final in the 100 freestyle at the 2022 GNAC Championships, finishing 19th overall in 1:07.75. During her collegiate career, Abby also participated in backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly events. She graduated in May with bachelor's degrees in education and psychology.

One of the team captains this season, Mallytza Ibarra Davila (Yuma, Ariz.) finished in the top 15 eight different times at the GNAC Championships, including 11th place finishes in the 50 butterfly at the 2020 conference meet and in the 100 butterfly at the 2022 championships. Her personal best marks in both the 100 freestyle and 50 butterfly came at the 2022 NEISDA Championships, resulting in top 30 placements in each event. This season, during the December 3 meet against Elms, she posted a personal best time of 27.31 seconds in the 50 freestyle. Earning Academic All-GNAC recognition during the 2020-21 academic year, Mallytza is also a four-time NEISDA All-Academic honoree who received her bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation in May.
Alexa Lancisi (Milford, Mass.) swam the third leg of the GNAC champion 200 medley relay at the 2020 conference meet, plus she finished in the top eight in three individual events. At the 2019 GNAC Championships, she finished in the top four in all three butterfly events, plus she landed in sixth place in the one meter diving event. Alexa placed seventh in both the 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly at the 2022 GNAC Championships. She also picked up All-New England honors in 2019 with an eighth place finish in the 100 butterfly at the NEISDA Championships. Alexa holds the second-fastest time in the 200 butterfly in program history. A two-time Academic All-GNAC and six-time NEISDA All-Academic honoree, she received her nursing degree in May.

A team captain for the 2021-22 season, Brendan Pike (Weymouth, Mass.) is a three-time GNAC champion, starting with victories in the 500 freestyle and 400 medley relay at the 2019 conference meet. In 2020, he won the 1650 freestyle by over one minute, plus he finished second in the 500 freestyle and third in the 200 freestyle. Brendan was named the Regis Male Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete of the Year after earning All-GNAC and All-New England honors, including three podium finishes during the two championship meets. Brendan holds both the school record and the pool record in the 400 individual medley, setting the school record on his way to a second place finish at the 2020 NEISDA Championships. His name appears within the Regis all-time top 20 times list in 14 different events. A two-time Academic All-GNAC and three-time NEISDA All-Academic honoree, Brendan graduated with his nursing degree.
