Full Day of Pride Athletics Set for 2019 Regis Fest

WESTON, Mass. – Once again, all Regis College fall sports scheduled to compete Saturday, Sept. 28, will do so at home, as a full day of action is scheduled for alumni, current students, faculty, staff, and their families to celebrate Regis Fest.

Regis Fest begins Friday, Sept. 27 and continues until Sunday morning, Sept. 29 with a variety of events and gatherings. For the complete schedule, visit https://issuu.com/regiscollegepubs/docs/regis_fest_schedule_2019.

10 A.M. – MEN'S TENNIS VS. WENTWORTH – The men's tennis team plays its final home match of the fall against Wentworth at the Regis Tennis Courts. One of the most exciting competitions of Regis Fest last year was a 5-4 victory by men's tennis over Saint Michael's College. This will be Wentworth's first competition of the fall, and Regis holds 5-3 a series advantage over the Leopards, including a 9-0 victory last season.

11 A.M. – FIELD HOCKEY VS. SIMMONS - This will be the first Regis Fest for two-time GNAC Rookie of the Week Sheridan Blaha. Simmons is 3-3 after six matches with three more contests before helping the Pride begin the tripleheader at Regis Stadium. Simmons leads the all-time series, 17-3, including a hard-fought 4-3 win over the Pride last season.

1 P.M. – WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL VS. ST. JOSEPH (CONN.) – The first GNAC home date for the Pride sees two matches on the schedule, beginning with an early afternoon match against the Blue Jays. Regis captain Katryna Veasey continues to establish the all-time kills record as well as move up the top-10 lists for career service aces and career digs. St. Joseph is currently 4-4 with matches against Norwich and Dean on the docket. The Blue Jays hold a 4-2 series edge, including a 3-2 victory last season.

1:30 P.M. – MEN'S SOCCER VS. EMMANUEL – After opening the conference schedule the previous Saturday, the Pride begin a stretch of five straight GNAC contests by hosting the Saints. Emmanuel is 2-3 overall with matches against Norwich and Wentworth awaiting the Saints before they make their Regis Fest visit. The series is tied at 1-1-1, with Regis earning a 1-0 victory on Emmanuel's home field last season thanks to a goal by Ken Niyonzima in the 69th minute.

2 P.M. – WOMEN'S TENNIS VS. JOHNSON & WALES – Of all the conference matches taking place at Regis Fest, the women's tennis contest may be the most compelling. Johnson & Wales was voted by the GNAC coaches as the preseason favorite, with Regis finishing in second place in the poll. The Wildcats have won their first six matches, including three league contests, as they host Eastern Nazarene, another contending squad, on Sept. 21. JWU has won all seven previous meetings, including a close 5-4 decision last season.

3 P.M. – WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL VS. ALBERTUS MAGNUS – The volleyball team heads right back onto the court for another conference clash, this time welcoming the Falcons of Albertus Magnus. The Falcons have gone on a roller coaster, starting with three straight losses, followed by four consecutive wins, and now in the midst of a three-match losing streak with four contests still to come before Regis Fest. Regis has defeated Albertus Magnus in each of the previous two seasons.

4 P.M. – WOMEN'S SOCCER VS. SUFFOLK – The final athletic event sees the renewal of a local rivalry as the Pride host Suffolk at Regis Stadium. Led by sophomore Kaylee Francis with four goals and six assists, the Pride have won three straight matches to bring a 4-2 record into the end of the month. Like Regis, Suffolk also won its conference opener heading into road matches at Colby-Sawyer and Anna Maria. The all-time series is tied at 2-2, with the Pride defeating the Rams in overtime last year on a golden goal by Rachel Kelly.

In addition to the athletic events, all current students, alumni athletes, and Pride supporters are welcome to the Athlete Affinity Social, taking place all afternoon on the softball field.
