Regis Student-Athletes Continue High Academic Performance

WESTON, Mass. – With the Spring 2019 semester set to begin Tuesday, student-athletes at Regis College continue to perform well academically, as team and department-wide grade point averages for Fall 2018 have been finalized.

As a whole, the Pride student-athletes posted a grade point average of 3.274 for the most recent semester. Of the 20 teams, 18 finished with fall GPAs above 3.0, while the other two squads ended up with a team grade point average for the semester between 2.92 and 2.98.

Four Regis teams earned a semester GPA above 3.5, led by the women's indoor track and field team at 3.590. Even though they were in season, the members of the women's volleyball team still finished with a 3.532 GPA in the fall, followed by women's outdoor track and field at 3.529 and women's soccer, another squad in the midst of its competitive season, at 3.505.

Among the male sports, the cross country team finished with the highest team GPA in the fall at 3.372, just ahead of outdoor track and field at 3.336. Of note, two men's squads that started competition during the fall semester still posted a team GPA above 3.0, as swimming and diving finished at 3.129 and basketball combined for a 3.055 GPA.

Heading into the spring semester, 19 of 20 Regis teams boast a cumulative grade point average above 3.0, with the other squad just under that number. Nine Pride squads bring a cumulative GPA at or above 3.3 into the new session, led by women's indoor track and field at 3.615.
